Today George Dennis from TN. took a break from business and try his skills at some Peacock Bass fishing in less then 4 hr. George boated 13 peacock’s and 1 Mylan. Next I had the pleasure of fishing with a Father & Son also from TN. Eric & Easton Underwood. We did a split day , started out fishing the flats in The Everglades for largemouth , fishing was tough as a front moved in . Although Easton hooked into a nice largemouth . With the fishig being a bit slow we opt to head out for some Peacock bass. in a short time and 4 Dozen shiners later the boys boats a dozen peacock bass and 1 Largemouth bass. After fishing Easton and his Dad had a meeting with the Head coach of UM and he may be the next quarterback. Good Luck Easton. The bite is on so come on down and fishing with “The Orginal Hawghunter”, Capt. Frank Carbone

Today was a tough day in The Glades for repeat client and friend Ike Wyant from Iowa and myself , due to blue bird sky’s, a lot of sun and no wind. Even though the number weren’t there the quality was. We still managed a 20 + lb. bag. up to 7 lb. The bigger bass were caught on Gambler’s Big EZ in the pads, and the others on a Boyd Duckett top water lure working fast across the top on the edge of the pads. Even with 90 degree weather you can still catch quality bass in Florida with “The Hawghunter” Capt. Frank Carbone

In the past two day’s the Peacock Bass fishing has been good. First up I had a Father and Son team Mike & Graham Cole from North Florida. They wanted only to fish with lures, so that’s what we had done catching 10 including some largemouth and a cichlid. The peacock’s were all caught on Castaic and Reaction Strike jerkbaits which was the lure of choice while we were film the TV show Bass Dr. which will air on WFN this winter. The action started as soon as the sun broke through the clouds, as Graham started things off. Mike struggled in the beginning, setting the hook in the morning, but that afternoon was things were better for him. Next day I had a great couple referred to me by a family member a repeat client of mine. Mike and Crissie Gordon from California. This couple just destroyed the Peacock Bass pitching live bait deep. This was celebrating their 15 th anniversary , and in less then 4 hrs. managed to put 26 peacock bass into the boat up to over 4 LB. caught by Crissie. It’s clients like these that makes my job enjoyable. Come on down and see what all the talk is about , with catching Peacock Bass, pound for pound the strongest fighting freshwater fish. Well another Great trip to Aniak as my 3rd trip has 12 clients, each catching well over 250 fish. In the Salmon family they caught Silvers ,Pinks, Chums, Sockeyes, and an occasional King. Other species were Dolly Varden, Graylings, Arctic Char, Rainbow & Leopard Rainbow Trout ,Northern Pike, and last She fish . This year the new lodge was opened which offers the choice of the lodge the tent camp or both. The most inviting thing about here and the success ratio per Angler is the seclusion . Aniak is the only lodge on the 40 mile river which means no other anglers. These trip are available from late June to early Sept. Call for more information. 954-325-1115

Mike Garrett and his 15 year old Son Jace from Georgia had one of their most exciting fishing trip ever as they caught almost everything South Florida has to offer. On day 1 we headed to Lake Ida for some Peacock Bass. The day started out with a double,”Wow”. After catching 4 peacock ‘s , 3 Largemouth and 4 Mylan Cichlids , I decided to move the boys to one of my spots that has been producing a good number of fish ,and also where I filmed a show with The Bass Dr. Within the first 10 mins. they had boated 4 peacock bass and the excitement didn’t stop there. As you can see Florida it the only place you can catch both Peacock & Largemouth Bass at the same time. Young Jace hooked into what we thought was a Trophy Peacock Bass., and to everyone’s surprise it was a Clown razor tail fish. This fish was not only a “HAWG”, but we believe was a World Record. This fish was over 40″ and we estimated 15 LB. Mike looked it up and the record was 40 ” 13.8 LB. At the end of day 1 the duo landed 19 fish total.11 Peacock Bass, 3 largemouth 4 Mylan’s and 1 Record Clown Razor tail fish. On Day 2 we headed to “The Everglades” for Largemouth Bass combined we caught well over 100 Bass up to 5lb. all on artificial baits. We started out with some top water. then switching over to Gambler’s EZ swimmer and Ace. On this day the bait of choice was the Ace working it with no weight. Needless to say these Georgia boys will be back in the fall for more Florida fishing with , “The Hawghunter”.

Another 3 great days of fishing for return client Bob Olivia and Dwane from Chicago. The fishing buddies fished the famed Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades . They caught well over 100 bass in the 3 days and mostly on artificial baits up to 6 lb. They spent two days fishing the flats in “The Glades and then an “explosive” day on Lake Okeechobee. The baits we were throwing was Gambler Big EZ, EZ swimmers, and Ace color really didn’t matter as long as it swam over the bass’s head they killed it. Then at the end of the day they went through 3 Dz. wild shiners. Ya ! just can’t beat Okeechobee when the bite is on, “It ain’t Just Fishing” When your out with Captian Frank Carbone
