The boys fished with wild Shiners, the entire day catching again over 30 Bass . Most of these were caught in the morning. due to the fact a cold front came through, after it had past the bite picked up again. Then it happened to Pat, he hooked into a 7.5 LB Okeechobee “HAWG” , never expecting it to be the size that it was because the Bass charged the boat and the fight wasn’t on until she was near the boat. The Next day I had Mathew Nicolo from Florida with his Step Dad Woody from Maine. It was a Foggy day but never the less the fishing was unbeliveable. The first Big bass came on a wild Shiner as Woody Landed his nice 5lb Largemouth. After they went through 3 doz. shiner Mathew caught a 6 lb. At this point the boys had over 20 Bass in the boat. Today I had taken out Repeat Client Chuck Howorth from Chicago. I was on some Crank bait fish also using the new Gambler Fat Ace. Even though it was a cold brisk morning the bass were hungry and they were hitting like a fright train.    In the first hour and a half we had boated over 40 bass up to 4 .5 lb.    We had gotten a bite almost on every cast, it didn’t matter what we threw. On the very first cast I hit one on a crank bait and Chuck caught his on a Ace, what a way to start out with a double. Here’s an example of how hungry they were and why I say it was a Feeding Frenzy      All the bass today were caught on my new sponsors gear, Danali Rods and Abu Garcia Revo Reels. Now all my clients will have the privilage to fish with either Baitcasters or Spinning Tackle.   Also what helps is a good quality line both Floracarbon and Braid by Vicious , and aStrong  X-Point 4/0 hook.   Not to wear out the spot we moved around finding fish . We stopped in  Pelican Bay , Grassy Is. ,Buzzard’s Roost to mention a few spots on the Big “O”.   Last winter was fantastic and I had my best year ever . this year we are predicting the “Lake” to even better. For the past 4 days I had the pleasure of guiding my client K Ote his lovely new bride Miku and Father Hidefumi from Tokyo  Japan    They have fished with me in the past , and had even gone with me to The Amazon. This trip had a different mission . K wanted to catch Snakeheads more then the other species.   K accomplished what he came here for by catching this 33 ” 6.5 lb. Shakehead on a spinner bait.       His dad also added another species to the list, poor Miku just kept on missing them.   Miku had her revenge when we went Peacock bass fishing catching not only the biggest but the most and the smallest or should I say the cutest.       After a very successful morning we headed for Lunch at my favorite Watering Hole Sonia’s for some excellent Cuban food, a must when fishing near the airport.       This is a Great family that I truly enjoyed fishing with and will always look forward to their return. The talk was K and his Dad will go back to the Amazon , but only if They took Miku back to Florida so she could enjoy the beach and fishing of course. Our busiest and peak season is nearing so book your dates early . Capt Frank enjoys  Guiding 7 Days a week

Our flight from Miami to Manaus was great. We were met at the airport by a driver and a English speaking guide set up by Jorge. after checking into the Tropical Manaus (which by the way was a very nice place) we went and had a great seafood lunch. After lunch went for a drive through town to the fish market,  what a very interesting place. Went back to hotel hang around the pool. That evening went to a Brazilian steakhouse for dinner.   We were taken to the airport and boarded a  plane to Barcelos. After a short 45 minute flight arrived at the Barcelos airport. A van took us to the mother ship (TUCUNA AMAZON). A very nice boat, large deck up top, nice dining room and comfortable sleeping quarters, bunk beds with A/C.  Jorge and the crew were great very nice and helpful.       The first day my son Brandon and I caught 18 fish from 4-13 lbs. Steve our other friend caught 8 fish from 3-9 lbs. Val told us it would get better in a day or two. Told us we would catch some big fish and he was right. I did hook a solid 20 pounder on a white body red headed woodchopper. What a thrill.       I caught a 22 pounder on a jig very exciting I actually saw the fish come and grab the jig. Later that day Brandon hooked a 20 pounder on a white body chartreuse head high roller lure. , I was fishing with a jig and a big 22 pounder could not resist it. What a beautiful fish.       About 30 minutes after I caught that fish, I threw my lure in a tree my guide was headed over to get it out, as he was reaching to unhook from tree we heard a huge explosion behind us. while we were getting lure from tree Brandon was fishing off the back he just hooked a big fish, guide kept yelling big fish big fish. This fish was strong trying to get in the trees...

These past two day I had a wonderful time with repeat clients Marvin Ross and his Daughter Melissa from Chicago. the duo had fished with me in The Amazon and holds the record for the most Peacock Bass caught in a single day , 147.    Now back to Florida , First we headed to Miami for the smaller Butterfly Peacock Bass. They had a ball catching over 35 fish including Mylan Cichlids, Largemouth Bass and of course several Peacock Bass up to 4 lb.                                                                                                                 The next day they headed to the famed “Lake Okeechobee” , for some explosive action. Once again Melissa out fished dear old Dad. Marv had his chance but lost a possible 10 lb. Bass as we watched it jump and spit the hook.   Together they caught between 35- 40 largemouth with 2 Gar and one big Bofin.        The fishing has been great and this year I feel” The Lake” will do exceptionally well, with the way the water conditions are.
