Had a Great time on Lake Okeechobee yesterday,with Bill & Charlotte Killiam from AR.Once again Lady Luck prevales as Charlotte single handed land Her True Trophy Okeechobee “HAWG” 9.12 LB. 28″ X 17 ” girth. Can you imagine if this bass wasn’t spawned out.

A trophy 9.12 LB.

The day started out with Bill catching a 1 pounder , from that point the couple took turns  then Bill landed a nice 4 + lb. I discovered that the bigger bass were deeper in the grass , so we started pitching into the pockets. Then it happened, Charlotte setup on a bass as she set the hook the pole bent over . I wasn’t sure if it was a big bass or she was just wrapped up in the weeds. Then the bass broke loose and bolted to the right and that rod was bent all the way over in the open water. When I saw the back on this bass I knew she had an Okeechobee Lunker.  I then started yelling at Bill to get everything out of the way so not to loose this Monster bass. Well as you can she victory was hers.

NOW here is the best part of this story. this is one for the books.

As Charlotte was hold up her trophy for Pictures , the bass jumped out of her hand hit the deck and bounced back into the water before pictures were taken. Everything went quite , with disappointment. As I bent over to pick up me phone that I dropped, I looked and there was her Bass tired and up against the weeds , just staying there. I felt I had one shot at her , so I plunged the net in front of her and the bass did just what I wanted, spooked forward into the net. “What a Day”.This was a Great friendly couple from Arkansas and I will look forward to having them back again. Also Charlotte released her bass for the next angler to catch , “YOU”.This is why People around the World come to Lake Okeechobee in hopes of fulfilling a dream of catching a “HAWG”.
