About This Trip
Overview
Journey deep into the heart of the Brazilian Amazon for the fishing adventure of a lifetime. The Amazon basin is home to the legendary peacock bass – one of the most exciting freshwater gamefish on the planet, known for their explosive strikes and incredible fighting power.
Our Brazil Amazon Peacock Bass Expedition takes you to pristine, remote waters where these magnificent fish thrive in abundance. You’ll fish from comfortable, well-equipped bass boats with experienced local guides who know every bend in the river, every submerged tree, and every hotspot where trophy peacock bass lurk.
Whether you prefer the heart-pounding excitement of topwater explosions or the satisfaction of working jigs and swimbaits along structure, our guides will put you on fish. Most anglers catch 20-40 peacock bass per day, with specimens regularly exceeding 10 pounds and trophy fish over 15 pounds taken throughout the season.
The Experience
Your Amazon adventure begins with arrival in Manaus, the gateway to the Amazon. From there, you’ll transfer to our floating yacht hotel or jungle lodge, depending on your chosen package. Both options provide comfortable air-conditioned accommodations, excellent meals, and cold beverages after each day on the water.
Each morning, you’ll head out with your guide in a fully-equipped bass boat, exploring miles of untouched jungle waterways. The fishing is primarily catch-and-release, preserving this incredible fishery for generations to come. Lunch is typically enjoyed riverside, and fishing continues until late afternoon.
Evenings feature outstanding meals prepared by our experienced kitchen staff, cold drinks, and the chance to share stories with fellow anglers under the spectacular Amazon night sky.
The Peacock Bass
Peacock bass (Cichla species) are not actually bass at all, but rather the largest cichlids in the world. Native to the Amazon basin, they are renowned for their stunning coloration, aggressive strikes, and pound-for-pound fighting ability that rivals or exceeds largemouth bass.
Three main species inhabit our fishing waters: the giant Temensis (which can exceed 25 pounds), the butterfly peacock (known for acrobatic fights), and the spotted peacock (aggressive and plentiful). On most days, you’ll encounter all three species.
