Recently I had taken out Wallace Bias, he is the author of the book “Fishing with your Father”. This is a good book because for me it brought back memories that I could relate to also. The day started out with a surprise and a bonus, as Wallace hooked and battled a nice largemouth 6-7 lb. So,. this answers the question most of you ask can you catch Peacock & Largemouth Bass at the same time. The rest of the day it was all Peacock Bass. Wallace an avid Fly- fisherman had fun catching them on a fly, he had also used some small shiners to complete his day on the Water. Wallace, next desire is to join me in the Amazon for the monster Peacock Bass up to 25 lb. You can find more on that trip on my Amazon site :www.amazonpeacockbasstrip.com Hawghunter Guide Service offers more then just fishing in South Florida for Peacock & Largemouth Bass. We also pride ourselves on Worldwide Fishing & Hunting Trip.

The South Florida action has been steady, in the hotter weather. My peacock Bass trip have been averaging between 12- 25. On the other hand the Largemouth Bass in the Everglades has been higher in numbers. Your average day on the water is around 50 with an occasional larger one in the 5-7 LB. range. First from New Jersey was Paul Zara and his fishing buddy. On there day of fishing for Peacock Bass they totaled at 23 the biggest being 3- 3/4 LB. Then I was very impressed to have Jim Mc Connell Florida and his two lovely daughters . The girls left their Husbands & Children home as they went with dear old Dad on their traditional Fishing Trip. The Trio have been Hunting Fishing together ever since they were young, “I think this is great”. They had spent 3 days on the water , first they peacock bass fished and then hit the Largemouth on the next two days. The Bass have been hitting real good on Gambler Ace and Large 10- 12″ worms on the bottom. Then finishing up the week was Harry Beerridge and his Son from Virginia having a great day catching up to 25 peacock Bass. The thing about South Florida fishing it is good all year round.

The Everglades action continues to be successful especially on Artificial Baits , such as Gambler Ace wacky style. Also we have been catching them deep on big worms. Needless to say Shiners are always a good choice as Master Angler Matt Pressman from Pembroke Pines Fl. found out last Saturday. Matt on his first two shiners caught this beautiful 7 lb. and on the very next shiner caught a 5 lb. As always he out shined his Dad, Steve owner of The Pillbox Pharmacy , and this was Steve’s Birthday Present Trip. Matt did feel bad, and let Dad hold his fish for the picture, “Yea Right”. At the end of the day the father & son caught over 40 bass mostly on shiners and when they ran out plastic worms. Next I had another Father & Son from Georgia Robert and & Robert JR. Kidd. These boys used only Artificial plastics. Again wacky style Gambler ace and the bigger Bass came on 12″ worms deep. On Jr. last cast of the day he caught this nice Bass to end a great day on the water. As the water is dropping the bass are filtering into the canals and making the action fantastic. So if you thinking of coming down for a good day of fishing this is the time. Give us a call or emails us . Capt. Frank Carbone saids come on down and join the Fun.

Today I was one on one with young angler Jacob Knapp from Texas. What a day he had catching 15 – 20 Top water Bass all on skinny Dippers. The day started out with his first “Okee” Bass being a nice 3 Lb. , his next was a 4 lb.The next was one over 6 lb. , I think one of his most exciting moments, was when he had this Huge wake come on his bait and didn’t take it, he’s still talking about it.Today the color didn’t matter anything we threw the Bass ate. After having such a good time the gang is going to do it again tomorrow. The boys ended up with 2 over 5 and one over 6 with some 3-4 lbs. and the rest were 2 lb.Right now the Big “O” is hot and we are catching fish all over, so come on down and Let Capt. Frank Carbone “The Hawghunter ” show you a good time.

If you are looking to catch a lot of Bass , now is the time to fish The Florida Everglade’s. Clients have been catching as much as 200 bass in a single day. Even though most of these bass are small you do get an occasional couple of good one like John Harman form Massachusetts or Mark Clemetz from Michigan did.All of John’s bass were caught on Gambler Ace. On Day one he had caught about 100 bass biggest being close to 3 lb. . NOW, on day two things were different I decided to try another location. At the fishing hole we caught around 50 , but the size was much better.Next I had Dave elder from Florida with his friend Larry Dennis from Michigan, now larry hadn’t fished in 40 years and you know it , he caught the biggest Bass that day. Then today I had Harry Blaire from New York with his Grandson harry III. this duo put some nice bass in the boat on shiners & of course Gambler Ace., the biggest bass was caught on an Ace by the little guy.Now is the Prime season for bass as they are on their beds, and the water levels are dropping , which causes the bite to be “on”. So come on down and join the fun with Capt. Frank Carbone, “The Hawghunter”. All the bass caught were released for the Next Angler to Catch, “YOU”.

With the cold weather upon us the fishing has been very good. It’s not often that Florida sees 40 degree weather for a week straight. This took it’s toll on several species, but did not effect the Largemouth. Right now you can come on down and expect to catch 100 + largemouth in a single day. Most of these Bass are being caught on plastics. Bill Guzman from NY came down for 2 Days of fishing and on the first day catching 17 Peacock Bass and on Day Two Catching over 70 Bass in 6 hrs. in the Everglade’s most of the Bass being in the 1.5 – 2 lb. range with an occasional bigger one.As far as the Peacock Bass are concerned , it has been a bit slower due to the water dropping lower then 60. Although Russ Giannetti from NY a return client did manage to catch a nice large Male Peacock Bass. Then yesterday Bill App with his Sister Judy and their friend Kathy hammered over 150 Bass using mostly Gambler Ace and trick worms while Judy used some healthy shiners from BJ’s Bait & Tackle located in Plantation. So if your looking to bend the Rod and catch a lot of Largemouth then come on down and the “The Hawghunter”, Capt. Frank Carbone show you how it’s done.Limited date’s are still available for February & March so book early. Good Fishin’

The Peacock Bass fishing has been steady the past 2 months. The average day has been around 20 peacocks, ranging from 2. – 5 lb. Surprisingly enough they have been hitting the Artificial more as we are in the fall months. Wade Smallwood from Florida (pictured above) show his brother Wade how to catch Peacock Bass, now keep in mind Wade is the fisherman. The boys decided to take in a Day of fishing while they were down here for the big NASCAR race. The Peacock ‘s today were caught on Shiners, & top water lures. The next Day Chris Scott from North Carolina also down for the races had a great day catching 15 Peacock ‘s all on shiners, with his biggest being 4 lb. 1 oz. Today’s Trip included repeat client Kevin Kennedy from PA. and Todd from Miami. The buddies decided to try the Everglades, and what a good choice it was. On Kevin’s second cast he caught his largest Bass ever a 6 Lb. 6 oz. Bass on a 12″ worm. The objective was to go after Big Bass, so we were using larger baits, for larger Bass. The Next big bass came on a larger snake , jerking it across the lily pads, this bass was over 5 lb. The bite was real slow, but when we got one on it was a big one. Then in the last hour I reverted to “Old Faithful”, Gambler Cane Toad, after missing 2 Giants, we hit , The Mamaluke , a nice 8 LB. 13 oz. “HAWG”. So the big girls are still out there you just have to go after them with the right baits. Let The Hawghunter, Capt. Frank Carbone show you how, we are a full time Guide Service that guides 7 Days a week.

What a Banner Day these boys from Missouri had this past weekend. John Duever and his brother Joe with good friend Kyle had my 2nd best day in 14 years of guiding so far. In only 6 hours they managed to put 52 Peacock Bass in the boat, with the biggest being 5 lb. 2 oz. caught by Kyle.KyleThe brothers also had 3 over 4 lb. with the majority being in the 2.5 lb range.JohnAll the bass were caught on shiners using a Daiichi Bleeding #1 Hook and a tiny split shot. The Missouri trip also had 2 doubles and almost a triple if John hadn’t broke off. JOENot only was this their best fishing day ever, they all amazed of the fighting power these scrappy species have. John stated he had gotten spoiled and didn’t know if he could back to largemouth after experiencing the “Florida Peacock Bass”.So come on down and join in on the fun with myself ,Capt. Frank Carbone “The Hawghunter” , and see for yourself what everyone is talking about. All 52 Peacock’s were released for the next Angler to catch, “YOU”.

Chris Charney from Georgia with his Son Evan “The Hammer” & Brother-in-Law Bob had a great day on the water. Before I could get the Purple Haze in the Water the boys caught 3 Peacock. As the day went on the action continued as they took chances catching fish. Evan lived up to his nickname “The Hammer” as he hammer peacock’s one after the other. By the end of the day this family boated well over 20 Peacock’s also Dad & Evan earned Angler citations. Another highlight came when both Evan & Uncle Bob had a double. The boys headed back to Georgia with plenty of pictures and memories to go long with it. Until next Time Good Fishin’ .

Repeat Client Keisuke Ota from Japan had such a Great time last year that he decided to bring his Father Hidefumi to join in on the fun this year. They fished for 4 Days, catching both Peacock & Largemouth Bass using ONLY artificial lures.Hidefumi’s goal was to catch a Big Bass, this was his wish, to take back to Japan.Day 1 – We headed out to the Park in the Everglade’s, with all the rain and high water conditions it made fishing a bit tough. The boys managed to catch 12 Bass and Keisuke at the end of the day caught a nice 4 lb. on a Cane Toad by Gambler.Day 2- It was south to Miami for Peacock Bass our first spot didn’t work out to well they only caught largemouth 6 total. So we headed to another location, once there K caught a peacock to break the ice. The remainder of the day produced 5 more Peacock Bass before the storm ran us off the water. Day- 3 Again we had problems, with all the rain the gates were open causing muddy water conditions and fast currant . Then finally way back in the canal system the boys found some action and Hidefumi caught his First Peacock Bass. They bass were hitting mostly top water baits, chug bugs & torpedo’s. On this day the Father & Son team caught 7 Peacock Bass.Final Day – K wanted to go where he had caught his 5 lb. Largemouth last year which measured 50 cm. his new record. Also on Lake Ida you can catch Peacock Bass also. Once again things were tough , until you find the right spot. Towards mid-day we were in the spot K caught his record and with remembering the same stick he threw in his jerk bait, and would you believe it he catches the same size Bass 50 cm, could it be the same fish? Now I was determined to fulfill Hidefumi dream and get him his Big Bass, we headed back to Lake Edna we were that morning. I had found that...
