What a Day Andy Smith from North Carolina had fishing for Peacock Bass. Andy caught 17 Peacock bass and 4 Largemouth all on artificial lures. Andy started out in the first  5 mins catching his first one on top water. After that it was all jerk baits.     He was working about 5 ft. under the water, and the peacock’s were slamming it. This was truly a fun day of fishing , I felt like it was two buddies just going out and having a good time on the water. Andy stated that he has been out with others in the past , but by far this was his best trip ever catching 21 and learning more tips  for catching Peacock Bass. The peacock bass action has been good right now and if you have some time to get away come on down. Capt. Frank Carbone , “The Real  Hawghunter” guides 7 days a week. and always ready to show you a good time.

Had a Great time on Lake Okeechobee yesterday, with Bill & Charlotte Killiam from AR.Once again Lady Luck prevales as Charlotte single handed land Her True Trophy Okeechobee “HAWG” 9.12 LB. 28″ X 17 ” girth. Can you imagine if this bass wasn’t spawned out.   The day started out with Bill catching a 1 pounder , from that point the couple took turns  then Bill landed a nice 4 + lb. I discovered that the bigger bass were deeper in the grass , so we started pitching into the pockets. Then it happened, Charlotte setup on a bass as she set the hook the pole bent over . I wasn’t sure if it was a big bass or she was just wrapped up in the weeds. Then the bass broke loose and bolted to the right and that rod was bent all the way over in the open water. When I saw the back on this bass I knew she had an Okeechobee Lunker.  I then started yelling at Bill to get everything out of the way so not to loose this Monster bass. Well as you can she victory was hers. NOW here is the best part of this story. this is one for the books. As Charlotte was hold up her trophy for Pictures , the bass jumped out of her hand hit the deck and bounced back into the water before pictures were taken. Everything went quite , with disappointment. As I bent over to pick up me phone that I dropped, I looked and there was her Bass tired and up against the weeds , just staying there. I felt I had one shot at her , so I plunged the net in front of her and the bass did just what I wanted, spooked forward into the net. “What a Day”.This was a Great friendly couple from Arkansas and I will look forward to having them back again. Also Charlotte released her bass for the next angler to catch , “YOU”.This is why People around the World come to Lake Okeechobee in hopes of fulfilling a dream of...

For the ones that hit it right after the rain their days were as low as 3-10 fish. At least everyone caught fish. Jim Ezinga had a great day fishing with his son as he caught a Trophy Peacock    Then Bob Brenley the TV announcer for the Chicago Cubs went fishing with 3 of his players. Also had a nice day on the water. Afterwards we headed over to Sonia’s for a great lunch with our Mets Pitchers   Now the following day I had a Father & Son Dave & Jon Sherman, that were Met fans from NY, that came down for the games. They hammered the heck out of the Peacock Bass in the same spot. Well at least the Mets played better baseball against the Marlins, LOL   A Real Beauty   Remember Peacock Bass is year round in Florida , so come on the they like the Hot weather , remember where they came from , “The Amazon”.

The Big Bass action still continues on Lake Okeechobee. As shown in this report by Ontario’s Bill Apt his sister Judy who caught most of the Big Bass today, and Friend Kathy.    The start of the day was slow catching only a few bass. Then once the sun came up the action was non -stop.    The trio was catching mostly 2-3 lb. bass until Judy hooked into her “First” 10 lb. Trophy.       Judy could do no wrong , it was her day to shine. She also caught an 8 lb. 7 lb. 6 lb. amongst several others in the 3-5 lb. Range.    Then if that wasn’t enough , she busted her 2nd 10 lb. Bass of the day. Anglers go all their lives without catching a 10 lber. ,and this lady angler landed two in one day.    John came back with his biggest 6 lb.                                         Then Kathy answered back with her nice 5 lb. What a banner day for Keith & Deb Maltais from N. J. Deb started the day off with the first of over 40 Peacock Bass caught on their Trip.   The couple caught fish at every spot we stopped mostly 2-3 lb. peacock bass. Then once the sun came up bite got much better and fish got bigger.   As we moved into another area the action started again and around 11 am , it happened , Keith hooked into “Hawghunters’ 3rd biggest Peacock ever. His rod bent over the line started stripping and the chase was on. Every time this beast saw the boat he ran again and again. Finally Keith after several minutes Keith boated this 8.1 lb. Male Peacock Bass.     Within moments Deb’s rod went down in similar fashion, but broke off, what a disappointment. Never the less the action continued , and now it was her time to shine. After a nice struggle , and wrists hurting, she landed her 5 lber.     Today’s trip consisted of 6 fish over 4 lbs. 1- 5 and Keith’s Trophy 8 lb. Florida Butterfly Peacock Bass. The Peacock bass are hitting very well right now and “The Hawghunter”, Capt. Frank Carbone knows where to find them. The only place to find them larger is the Amazon. WOW ! What away to end 2011 for Bill Dean from Georgia with a 10 lb. Okeechobee “Hawg”. Bill has been a client for the past 12 years and we always had a good time , but nothing like this trip.    We decided to sit back, relax, and fish wild shiners all day, this turn out to be a great choice.    After Bill missed the first three one being a 7 + , he started to connect with his first one.       Then he got a double.                              After 6 more in the 3 – 5  LB. range he connected with what he thought would be his biggest, a  8 lb. lunker.     As the wind kicked up I decided go move deeper in the High Grass , first shiner caught a 4 lb. and in the next was his trophy 10.4 oz. life time Bass. This was one of those moments when the boy comes out of the man. Bill has never experienced a day of fishing like this, totaling 25 bass mostly over 3 lb.   Lake Okeechobee is on fire right now  and if you want to catch that Big Bass now is the time and Capt. Frank Carbone , “The Original and Only Hawghunter” know where to find them.  We are into our busy season which is also the prime season for bass, so book early while there are  still some choice date’s.
