Mike Garrett and his 15 year old Son Jace from Georgia had one of their most exciting fishing trip ever as they caught almost everything South Florida has to offer. On day 1 we headed to Lake Ida for some Peacock Bass. The day started out with a double,”Wow”. After catching 4 peacock ‘s , 3 Largemouth and 4 Mylan Cichlids , I decided to move the boys to one of my spots that has been producing a good number of fish ,and also where I filmed a show with The Bass Dr. Within the first 10 mins. they had boated 4 peacock bass and the excitement didn’t stop there. As you can see Florida it the only place you can catch both Peacock & Largemouth Bass at the same time. Young Jace hooked into what we thought was a Trophy Peacock Bass., and to everyone’s surprise it was a Clown razor tail fish. This fish was not only a “HAWG”, but we believe was a World Record. This fish was over 40″ and we estimated 15 LB. Mike looked it up and the record was 40 ” 13.8 LB. At the end of day 1 the duo landed 19 fish total.11 Peacock Bass, 3 largemouth 4 Mylan’s and 1 Record Clown Razor tail fish. On Day 2 we headed to “The Everglades” for Largemouth Bass combined we caught well over 100 Bass up to 5lb. all on artificial baits. We started out with some top water. then switching over to Gambler’s EZ swimmer and Ace. On this day the bait of choice was the Ace working it with no weight. Needless to say these Georgia boys will be back in the fall for more Florida fishing with , “The Hawghunter”.

Another 3 great days of fishing for return client Bob Olivia and Dwane from Chicago. The fishing buddies fished the famed Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades . They caught well over 100 bass in the 3 days and mostly on artificial baits up to 6 lb. They spent two days fishing the flats in “The Glades and then an “explosive” day on Lake Okeechobee. The baits we were throwing was Gambler Big EZ, EZ swimmers, and Ace color really didn’t matter as long as it swam over the bass’s head they killed it. Then at the end of the day they went through 3 Dz. wild shiners. Ya ! just can’t beat Okeechobee when the bite is on, “It ain’t Just Fishing” When your out with Captian Frank Carbone

Today repeat client Ike Wyant from Iowa had a great day in the Florida Everglades. The day started out real slow and not looking to good . After all the rain they were pushing a lot of water through the canals. So after a few hour and only …3 small fish , I decided to put the boat back on the trailer and head to another canal system . Then in the last hour all hell broke loose and we started catching fish in one stretch on Gambler Ace baits. Don’t leave home without them. Here are two more that Ike caught at the end of the day to remember with “The Hawghunter” We won’t talk about the “HAWG” that got off at the boat., I think Ike is still crying about it. When the bite is tough you have to go find them and that’s just we did . We are getting into out spawning season soon so book your prime dates early. Capt. Frank Carbone , The “Hawghunter” is ready with his team of licensed guides.
