Florida Bass Fishing

Miami Peacock Bass Fishing

September 11, 2006

For the next 2 days Pat Kayda from LA. experienced something he has never done before, catching Peacock Bass. The first day we fished South Dade in the canal system of Miami where Pat managed to catch 7 Peacock's up to 3 LB. The thrill of the day came when he hooked in to this surprise or should I say the bonus, a 20 LB. Tarpon. This fish jumped at least 8-10 times ran his bail a dozen times before I was able to put a net under her to take this picture. What a way to start out his first day fishing South Florida. After we had lunch and took a break the lighting Storms forced us off the water.

On day 2 was a bit more productive as Pat caught 8 Peacock's up to 5 LB.and 12 Largemouth, once again the storms cut our day short, nevertheless , Pat days were fulfilling and was more then he expected. See, here in South Florida you have it all, while fishing for Peacock Bass you can also catch Tarpon , Largemouth , Snook, Jacks, & other Species.

Give ,"The Hawghunter",Capt. Frank Carbone a call on your next visit to South Florida.

On my last outing to Miami for Peacock Bass we had a great time with Shawn Wilson and his Dad, Charlie Saddlebags Wilson. We were fishing Blue Lagoon, and right from the start Charlie on his fist 2 casts landed his first ever Peacock bass. Then Charlie put the third in the boat, and now the chatter started. Shawn then put a stop to that as he set the hood on a 5.8 Lb. Largemouth Bass.

As we continued to work the lagoon the action was steady when Shawn picked up a 4.5 Lb. Peacock. Then no more then 20 mins. later as we were making a drift Shawn bail took off, what I thought was a snook or a tarpon , turned out to be a 6 LB. 2 oz. Peacock Bass 21.5 " long. By about 1 o'clock everyone was getting hungry, so we broke for lunch with a total of 17 in the boat , "What a morning". After a great lunch at my favorite watering hole,Sonia's we attempted to fish some more , but the lighting forced us off the water. The guy's were more then happy with their catch & meal.

On Day 2 we headed to the everglades for another great day of fishing. Today we started out earlier to catch the first bite , we were at the ramp by 6:30 AM. Today the Bass were caught on artificial baits. We started out catching them on Gambler Ace and flippin' the heavy mats with Ugly Otter's. Then Shawn busted the big guy on a Zara Spook to claim his second lunker of the trip a 6 lb. 4 oz. largemouth Bass, Similar to yesterday the boys caught around 17 until the bad weather again pushed us off the water.

Well, on day 3 it was Charlie Saddle bags Wilson's day, as he out fished his son with his 6 Lb. 2 oz. Peacock Bass and earned him his braggin' right to end 3 Great days of fishing with "The Hawghunter".
