The day started out with Bjorn catching a 30 + LB. Carp on a top water plug.
On this day he also caught Peacock Bass and 1 largemouth to complete his task.

In the past couple of weeks the Peacock Bass fishing has picked up, with the exception of one day when the cold front came through.
Rick Blom from Lakeland Florida proved that as he single handed caught 20 Peacock Bass most on shiners. Rick had 4 explosions on top water.

Nice Butterfly Peacock Bass
Rick’s biggest was around 4 Lb. and few more in that range, this was just a great day on the water and the weather was just right.
Next next Day I had repeat Client Charlie Horworth from Chicago. He opted to fish for Largemouth on his two days in Florida. This first day was a windy one, and made worming and using sanko’s a bit tough. With only 12 small Bass in the boat things were looking kind of grim, until an 8- 10 lb. Bucket mouth hit a 10″ Gambler worm deep. This monster launched out of the water went deep again and he came off. Never the less this got our blood going , so the next day we headed back to the same waters , but this time with shiners.
Nice way to Start the Day
The results were a lot different as Charlie started out the morning with a nice 6 lb. then fallowed up with a 4 LB.
Right now the water is still a bit high but the action is good as we are going into the pre-spawn pattern. With the Holiday’s upon us , and if your coming down to Florida book your date’s now and join in on the fun.
Well I wish everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving this year. I have a lot to be thankful for, because I became a Grandpa for the first time. A 6lb 5 oz. Keeper Stephen John born Nov. 7.

Last weekend I had two Texan’s, Darrell Norrid & Ken Hubbard. These two party animals had three great days of fishing & fun. I think they rock the Hard Rock, along with the fishing.
Day one we hit Lake Okeechobee, boy was the wind blowing that day. Never the less we boated over 60 Bass up to 4 lb. The day started out throwing Flappin’ Shad’s & Skinny Dipper, over the heavy cover. Also Darrell caught the first fish of the day on a Gambler 10 ” worm to seart thing off. Going into the Afternoon we hit a big school of Bass coming off the lake. They caught countless Bass on rattle traps. We then finished of the day in Bay bottom.
The highlight of the trip was day Two, especially for Ken, he is still talking about those Peacock Bass.
Once again Darrell started thing off with the first catch of the day, then Ken answered with 4 in a row all in the 2-4 LB. range.
Then about 12:30 , it happened , Ken’s love for fishing changed, as he hooked into this trophy Florida Peacock Bass .
Ken experienced a fight of his life, like no other Largemouth before, stating that he has caught some monster on Lake Fork , but nothing compared to this 6 lb. Peacock Bass. It took about 5 mins. to wear this “HAWG” down before I could put a net under
him
6 LB. Trophy
At the end of the day the guys boated 17 Peacock Bass and had a ball.
Needless to say the boys will be back again, and will be joining me in The Amazon next year for a 20 LB monster.

24. 5 LB. caught on Top water
Day three wasn’t as productive as the water levels are still high in the Everglade’s only catching 8 small bass , but taking a lot on Gator and scenery picture’s.
The boy’s will be bring back to Texas some nice memories of their Florida fishing experience with “The Hawghunter”, Capt. Frank Carbone.
If you are looking to get away for a weekend our post spawning season is coming up for the largemouth. If you are planning a winter trip book early , our busy season starts from the Holiday’s until May. Good Fishin’.

Well it was nice to have return Clients Kim Swiggart from Oklahoma, his son Parker and business client Carlo out for another Good day on the water.
The boys had a good time catching all kinds of fish. peacock Bass Mylan Cichla’s,
Oscar, largemouth Gar, and a few other tropical fish.
The peacock Bass today were caught on small shiners jigs, and top water lures.
This was Carlo first time ever catching Peacock Bass and as beginners luck would have it he caught the most.
The peacock Bass is the most explosive , hardest fighting freshwater fish you will ever have on the end of your line. Just come on down and let me show you, you won’t regret it.

Well, it took 7 years for 5 year old Rhett Harmon from Las Vegas to bring his Dad Dave back to Florida to go fishing again . The boys enjoyed 2 fine days of fishing together , while Mom shopped.
On day one we headed to Miami for some peacock bass, once there the action started out with Rhett catching the first few before Dad got on the board. At the end of the Day Rhett out fished dad with the biggest Peacock.
- look at that smile
The next day we were out to the Everglade’s for some largemouth action. The action was a little slow until the afternoon. On this day dad took the bragging right with catching the most & the Biggest, eventhough Dad let him hold it.

6 LB.
The competition is always great , but the true Greatness is a Father & Son sharing quality time together Fishing and always having the fond memories to fall back on, the fish is just the bonus.
Dave & Rhett are both looking forward to Joining me in the Amazon hopefully this winter.
Capt. Frank Carbone. “The Hawghunter”, is always waiting to be apart of those memories and welcome all anglers 7 Days a Week.

In the past 5 years I have noticed more and more couples while on their Honeymoon have been booking trip with me. I think that’s great when a couple share time together on the water, like this couple Brent & Paige Urbaniak from Kansas City, Missouri.
We started out in Blue Lagoon, after about 10 mins. I spotted a large school of Fish, so we started to chase them down. When we got in range Brent through a Zara Spook in the middle of the school and hooked into a nice Jack Cavalla to start thinks off.
Paige, then answered it with a 3 lb. Peacock Bass that nearly pulled the rod out of her hands.
The real action started as we headed back into the canal system, which I always refer to as “The Venice of Miami”.
By 11:00 AM Paige was a little over heated, and a bit of too much celebration the night before , so we head for some cold drinks and shade at Sonia’s Hide a way, a great little Cuban Cafe.
After lunch it back out for more action, as the couple ended up with about a dozen Peacock Bass up to 4 lb. and 1 Jack to end a great day and some nice picture’s for the Honeymoon Album.
Of course Paige caught the big one.

4 lb. Peacock Bass
Good luck to the both of you and stay happy.
Good Fishin’ from , “The Hawghunter”, Capt. Frank Carbone

With the cold weather upon us the fishing has been very good. It’s not often that Florida sees 40 degree weather for a week straight. This took it’s toll on several species, but did not effect the Largemouth. Right now you can come on down and expect to catch 100 + largemouth in a single day. Most of these Bass are being caught on plastics. Bill Guzman from NY came down for 2 Days of fishing and on the first day catching 17 Peacock Bass and on Day Two Catching over 70 Bass in 6 hrs. in the Everglade’s most of the Bass being in the 1.5 – 2 lb. range with an occasional bigger one.
As far as the Peacock Bass are concerned , it has been a bit slower due to the water dropping lower then 60. Although Russ Giannetti from NY a return client did manage to catch a nice large Male Peacock Bass.
Then yesterday Bill App with his Sister Judy and their friend Kathy hammered over 150 Bass using mostly Gambler Ace and trick worms while Judy used some healthy shiners from BJ’s Bait & Tackle located in Plantation.
So if your looking to bend the Rod and catch a lot of Largemouth then come on down and the “The Hawghunter”, Capt. Frank Carbone show you how it’s done.
Limited date’s are still available for February & March so book early. Good Fishin’

The Peacock Bass fishing has been steady the past 2 months. The average day has been around 20 peacocks, ranging from 2. – 5 lb. Surprisingly enough they have been hitting the Artificial more as we are in the fall months.
Wade Smallwood from Florida (pictured above) show his brother Wade how to catch Peacock Bass, now keep in mind Wade is the fisherman. The boys decided to take in a Day of fishing while they were down here for the big NASCAR race. The Peacock ’s today were caught on Shiners, & top water lures.
The next Day Chris Scott from North Carolina also down for the races had a great day catching 15 Peacock ’s all on shiners, with his biggest being 4 lb. 1 oz.

What a Banner Day these boys from Missouri had this past weekend. John Duever and his brother Joe with good friend Kyle had my 2nd best day in 14 years of guiding so far. In only 6 hours they managed to put 52 Peacock Bass in the boat, with the biggest being 5 lb. 2 oz. caught by Kyle.
Kyle
The brothers also had 3 over 4 lb. with the majority being in the 2.5 lb range.
John
All the bass were caught on shiners using a Daiichi Bleeding #1 Hook and a tiny split shot. The Missouri trip also had 2 doubles and almost a triple if John hadn’t broke off. JOE
Not only was this their best fishing day ever, they all amazed of the fighting power these scrappy species have. John stated he had gotten spoiled and didn’t know if he could back to largemouth after experiencing the “Florida Peacock Bass”.
So come on down and join in on the fun with myself ,Capt. Frank Carbone “The Hawghunter” , and see for yourself what everyone is talking about. All 52 Peacock’s were released for the next Angler to catch, “YOU”.
