Florida Peacock and Largemouth Bass Fishing Reports

CAT | Fishing

What a banner day for Keith & Deb Maltais from N. J. Deb started the day off with the first of over 40 Peacock Bass caught on their Trip.

The couple caught fish at every spot we stopped mostly 2-3 lb. peacock bass.
Then once the sun came up bite got much better and fish got bigger.

As we moved into another area the action started again and around 11 am , it happened , Keith hooked into “Hawghunters’ 3rd biggest Peacock ever. His rod bent over the line started stripping and the chase was on. Every time this beast saw the boat he ran again and again.
Finally Keith after several minutes Keith boated this 8.1 lb. Male Peacock Bass.

Trophy 8.1 lb.

Within moments Deb’s rod went down in similar fashion, but broke off, what a disappointment. Never the less the action continued , and now it was her time to shine. After a nice struggle , and wrists hurting, she landed her 5 lber.

Today’s trip consisted of 6 fish over 4 lbs. 1- 5 and Keith’s Trophy 8 lb. Florida Butterfly Peacock Bass. The Peacock bass are hitting very well right now and “The Hawghunter”, Capt. Frank Carbone knows where to find them.
The only place to find them larger is the Amazon. My next trip is Nov. 10- 18, 2012 and I have ONLY 6 spots left if anyone is interested.
Today this couple from Jersey had a day to remember and for sure will be back again. Book “NOW” while there are still choice date’s left.

A Banner day for Peacock Bass

Today repeat client Eric Hunter owner of Precision Construction & Roofing treated his two Top Salesmen to a FREE fishing trip.
Day one started out with Eric catching the first of many to be caught on this day.

Then Lance answered back with his first one of the day

Brian then after a long stretch finally caught his. Now everyone was happy. The pressure was off and now the fun begins.

From this point on it was all Eric and Lance battling out one after the other including a double.

Eric landed what he “thought” would be the big fish of the day, “Not”.

Lance then answered back with this 6 LB. Trophy to take over the bragging rights

Nice 21 .5 " Peacock Bass

At the days end, it was Eric with the First & the Most & Lance with the Biggest.
the boys totaled 38 with 2 largemouth and 1 Mylan Cichlid.

On day two it was just two , Brian had too Much parting at The Hard Rock.
Well, did he ever miss out on a day to remember. Eric &  Lance went back and forth all day catching Peacock Bass . At one point Lance was taking a demanding lead over Eric. So Eric in disbelief  thought that it was because all the red had warn off his “Daachii Red Bleeding Hook” from catching so many peacock bass.

I accredit a lot of my clients success to this Hook it has been proven that the color red is most attractive to fish. This has become my trademark when it come to Peacock Bass fishing especially.

This day turned out to be the best day of the year for me. There was 54 fish caught in all 49 Peacock Bass and 5 Largemouth to end a Fantastic day with “The Hawghunter’, Capt. Frank Carbone .
Eric ended this day with this Big Knot head Male Peacock Bass and a memory of the one that got away.

Florida Everglades Bassin’

Today I had Gonzalo Senosian and his cousin Victor from Mexico City, Mexico.
This was Gonzalo’s last hooray before getting married , I did understand there was going to be a bachelor party also.

Well the day started out slow and it was a tough bite.
The bass were just softly picking up the bait and swimming off with it. When the anglers felt a little resistance , “set the hook”.
I tried swimming a Big EZ which was creating the explosion but couldn’t put a hook in it.
Then Gonzalo caught his first Florida Bass and a good one at  that, a nice 5 lb. on a Gambler Ace.

5 lb. Bass

By the end of the trip we had landed about 20 Bass all were a good size 3-5 lb. , with the exception of three smaller ones.

The key to being successful in The Glades right now is being patient , and you’ll catch them, work the Bait slow.

A nice Pair of Bass

The boys had a good time and caught some of their Bigger Bass ever, the lake they fish in Mexico is plentiful but not too much in size.

A Banner Day for Largemouth

What a “Banner Day” for the Balack Brothers John & James from North Florida.
Jim was visiting from Iowa and wanted to spend a day on the water. They got to the ramp a bit late ,so we didn’t start fishing until 10:40 am  with blue bird sky’s and nil wind, so keep that in mind .

Jim started things off in less then 5 mins. with a nice 4 lb. Bass. on a Gambler Big EZ , while John was fishing off the back dragging shiners.
 Florida Everglades bass
Next James struck again with a massive explosion and landed a 5 lb. on top. The wind started to pick up a bit and John got his first in the boat , then another around 5 lb.

Everglades Bass 6 lb. Beauty

Throughout the day the brothers caught 15 bass all but two were over 3 lb. with a pair of  6 ’s . This was the best day both have ever had on the water and catching their biggest. ever.

Over 20 lb. bag

I even caught a 6 lb bass while trying another color.

Capt. Frank finding a pattern

The fishing has been good especially The Everglade’s and Lake Okeechobee.  The peacock Bass has been staying steady giving first timers a nice thrill. So give Capt. Frank Carbone “The Hawghunter” a call on your next visit to south Florida.

First there was Peter and his Son, all the way from Norway had a great 1/2 day of fishing in the Evereglade’s catching 18 Bass on Shiners and plastics.

Nest was return client Terry Richardson from GA. and his Son having a ball catching Peacock Bass in Miami. The duo caught a varity of fish. The only thing is I have no picture of Terry only his Son, Savon. Oh that’s right his was  bigger.

Next was John Lee and his Son also from GA. had a nice day catching 5 differant species of fish , but of course mostly Florida Peacock Bass.

In Florida the Peacock Bass spawn all year round. ., even though the Prime spawning season is March &April and again in AUG. So come on down and catch some of these scrappy fighters.

A Salinas Family Outing

Today was a great day as I enjoyed the Salines Family from Texas, Tony, Erica, Eric & Aidan. The Day started out with a heavy down pour which forced us to fish under a bridge. As soon as the rain stopped we spotted three Peacock Bass , but no luck in catching them.

So I ran to another spot, once there the action started. We had sighted a nice Peacock Bass up against the banks. Both Tony & Erica started to pitch for the first of several Peacock’s  to come. As always Lady Luck strikes again, as his lovely wife Erica was victorious.

Florida Peacock bass

A Happy face

Everyone caught a peacock bass even 4 year old Aidan , they also caught a few other tropical species.  to top out the day around 11 Peacock Bass  .
You and your Family can also enjoy a day on the water with Capt. Frank, “The Hawghunter”

The day wasn’t looking in our favor with dark clouds and a heavy down pour at the ramp before we launched the Triton. Well,I guess  the bass gods were looking down on us and you’ll  see why.

What a Banner Day for this Angler from PA. Gerg Lesnotk. The day started out with Greg catching a 5 lb. Largemouth on his third cast.

5 lb. Largemouth

As we fished down the canal of The everglades we were catching bass on a steady pace. Greg then caught a 2 .5 lb. Bass and , “stated that this is a great catch for his home waters. By the end of the day , he caught a bass that was and stated ’ Oh! it’s ONLY 3.5 lb. Boy !  do we spoil our clients.
By mid day he had  the 5 lb. 2 4 lb. and several chunky 3’s.

Greg thought that these Bass were going to be his biggest

Then he tossed a worm in to the pads , and there was a Massive Explosion. Greg battled this nearly 9 lb. “HAWG” out of the pads into the open water, then proudly hold up his trophy and the Biggest Bass of his life.

Fathers & Sons Fishing

Today was a split day with Vic Campbell from Delaware and his Son Craig. Vic operates Potomac Guide Service and is also in the fishing industry. We started out in Miami catch 11 peacock’s before heading over to the Glades. Once in the Glades the boys caught several Bass up to 3-4 LB. Nothing of great size but a lot of action and a fun day of catching. Most of the bass were caught on Gambler Ace wacky style.

Last week I had Glenn Lapham and his Son Ryan from Boston for two day’s of fishing. South Florida is the ONLY place you can fish for both Largemouth and Peacock Bass in the same Trip.

They started out on day one for Peacock Bass fishing, which turned out to be a great choice for the first day.

Ryan started things out by hooking up to a nice 30 + lb. crap before we headed to the canals system for what they came for , Florida Peacock Bass. Again Ryan got things rolling by the first of 14 Peacock Bass 1 largemouth & 1 Jaguar Guapote.

The day ended up with both men catching a double, from there we headed to Sonia’s for a nice Lunch.

Day two the boys had a ball in The Everglades catching Largemouth  one after the other with Ryan taking charge on this beautiful  day in the Glades.
Everglades Bass Fishing
. Also Ryan caught the Largest Bass. With Dad catching every species even caught a chain pickerel. The combined catch was well over 50 Bass.

Join me on your next visit to South Florida” Home of the Peacock Bass”. Let Capt. Frank show you how to catch them.
