I was honored today to take 1st LT. Evan Czajka out for some R & R as we fished
for Largemouth Bass in the Florida Everglade’s . Next week Evan will be deploying to Iraq so we can fish in freedom. I was very happy to send Evan off with a nice memory of his largest Bass ever, this 8.4 LB. “HAWG”.
This beauty was caught on a Watermelon / Red Gambler ace , wacky style no weight. The rest of the day consisted of 1 – 4, 2- 3 lb. and about 70 more between 1- 2.5 lb. all on artificial bait.
Also I had Dave Syring from OK. holding a couple of nice 5 & 6 lb. bass.

Next was Max Bahr from WI. , him and his Dad Dave had a ball for three day’s catching both Largemouth & Peacock Bass. pictured is Max hold a nice 6 lb. Male Peacock Bass.
The Everglade’s are fire right now and this is the time to get in on the action. Give Capt. Frank Carbone, “The Hawghunter” a call and book your next fishing Adventure to the Everglade’s.

The Everglade’s are on Fire with BASS

If you are looking to catch a lot of Bass , now is the time to fish The Florida Everglade’s. Clients have been catching as much as 200 bass in a single day. Even though most of these bass are small you do get an occasional couple of good one like John Harman form Massachusetts or Mark Clemetz from Michigan did.
All of John’s bass were caught on Gambler Ace. On Day one he had caught about 100 bass biggest being close to 3 lb. . NOW, on day two things were different I decided to try another location. At the fishing hole we caught around 50 , but the size was much better.
Next I had Dave elder from Florida with his friend Larry Dennis from Michigan, now larry hadn’t fished in 40 years and you know it , he caught the biggest Bass that day.
Then today I had Harry Blaire from New York with his Grandson harry III. this duo put some nice bass in the boat on shiners & of course Gambler Ace., the biggest bass was caught on an Ace by the little guy.
Now is the Prime season for bass as they are on their beds, and the water levels are dropping , which causes the bite to be “on”. So come on down and join the fun with Capt. Frank Carbone, “The Hawghunter”. All the bass caught were released for the Next Angler to Catch, “YOU”.
Today’s Trip included repeat client Kevin Kennedy from PA. and Todd from Miami.
The buddies decided to try the Everglades, and what a good choice it was. On Kevin’s second cast he caught his largest Bass ever a 6 Lb. 6 oz. Bass on a 12″ worm. The objective was to go after Big Bass, so we were using larger baits, for larger Bass. The Next big bass came on a larger snake , jerking it across the lily pads, this bass was over 5 lb. The bite was real slow, but when we got one on it was a big one. Then in the last hour I reverted to “Old Faithful”, Gambler Cane Toad, after missing 2 Giants, we hit , The Mamaluke , a nice 8 LB. 13 oz. “HAWG”.
So the big girls are still out there you just have to go after them with the right baits.
Let The Hawghunter, Capt. Frank Carbone show you how, we are a full time Guide Service that guides 7 Days a week.
Repeat Client Keisuke Ota from Japan had such a Great time last year that he decided to bring his Father Hidefumi to join in on the fun this year. They fished for 4 Days, catching both Peacock & Largemouth Bass using ONLY artificial lures.
Hidefumi’s goal was to catch a Big Bass, this was his wish, to take back to Japan.Day 1 – We headed out to the Park in the Everglade’s, with all the rain and high water conditions it made fishing a bit tough. The boys managed to catch 12 Bass and Keisuke at the end of the day caught a nice 4 lb. on a Cane Toad by Gambler.Day 2- It was south to Miami for Peacock Bass our first spot didn’t work out to well they only caught largemouth 6 total. So we headed to another location, once there K caught a peacock to break the ice. The remainder of the day produced 5 more Peacock Bass before the storm ran us off the water. Day- 3 Again we had problems, with all the rain the gates were open causing muddy water conditions and fast currant . Then finally way back in the canal system the boys found some action and Hidefumi caught his First Peacock Bass. They bass were hitting mostly top water baits, chug bugs & torpedo’s. On this day the Father & Son team caught 7 Peacock Bass.
Final Day – K wanted to go where he had caught his 5 lb. Largemouth last year which measured 50 cm. his new record. Also on Lake Ida you can catch Peacock Bass also. Once again things were tough , until you find the right spot. Towards mid-day we were in the spot K caught his record and with remembering the same stick he threw in his jerk bait, and would you believe it he catches the same size Bass 50 cm, could it be the same fish? Now I was determined to fulfill Hidefumi dream and get him his Big Bass, we headed back to Lake Edna we were that morning. I had found that they were going after crankbaits. We no sooner get there Hidefumi’s rod goes down and K yells “Fish ON”. I turn and saw this HAWG comes flying out of the water about 50 ft. behind the boat. Dad handled this Bass like a Champion Angler and landed his Dream I got him his 60 cm Big Bass. Hidefumi caught his trophy on a fire tiger bomber. I believe He still has that smile on his face today, nice job. My Japanese friends returned back to their homeland with some great photo’s and memories of their time they spent together on the Water with “The Hawghunter”.
