Fishing in the Everglades (Reports)

August 25, 2006

Today's outing in the Everglades was with Good Friends & Clients George & Nona. The fishing starting out real good first thing in the morning, but once the sun got up things toughen up a bit. Boy! Was it hot at 92 , no breeze and blue bird sky's. Nevertheless this fantastic duo manage 15 in the boat up to 4 LB. with a few Mud fish & Gar thrown in. The Bass today were caught on mostly shiners and flipping the cabbage with Gambler's Ugly Otter. The Peacock Bass fishing has been good with an average day between 15-20 up to 4-6 LB. Lately we have been getting some good top water action and catching a Tarpon, Snook or Jack on occasion. If you are planning to come down South this winter, please book your date(s) early to assure a spot in the sun with "The Hawghunter", Capt. Frank Carbone who guides 7 Days a week. Good Fishin'.

After all the rain we had seen the past week, the fishing has slowed down a bit as far as quantity goes. But never the less not for the three Floridians as seen above. Long time clients and friends George D' Ambrosia & Nona owners of "The Ridge" a Horse Farm in Wellington and their good friend Michele Masso had a great day. They had caught 15 Bass , chain prickle, gar, Oscars, Nona caught the biggest Catfish I ever saw in the Glades, and of course a few Mudfish. George had a great day as he caught his largest bass ever this 7 LB. beauty. All the Bass today except 2 were caught on Shiners. With these hotter days ahead of us I like to get the clients out early in the morning and off the water sooner to cool off in the pool. Now on the other hand this is excellent weather for the Florida Peacock Bass, this is their kind of weather, hot & sunny. experience The Everglades like only "The Hawghunter", Capt. Frank Carbone & His Guides can show you. We guide 7 days a week, full time.

Virginia angler Chad Bunch put in a 1/2 day of some good fishing in the Everglades today. On the first cast he slammed a nice one on a zara spook. The top water wasn't as active as it has been in the past few weeks. Boy that Gambler Ace and 10 " worm was working real fine, also what was effective was a super stud and any color will do. As we moved more south down L-67 we started spotting some bigger bass up to 8 Lb. , but couldn't get any takers. By the end of the day we boated 30 - 40 bass including a pair a 5's one on a spook and the other on a worm. Chad stated," we don't have any fishing like this in Virginia.
The next outing Chad wants to head over to the "Lake". The fishing has been good and you can expect some good numbers along with quality bass. Capt. Frank Carbone , "The Hawghunter", guides 7 days a week. so join us on your next visit to South Florida.
