On Randy’s first cast he reeled in a Largemouth Bass. That’s  the great thing about fishing South Florida, its the only place in the world you can catch both on the same trip.  Then after Randy dropped a $200 Danali rod and a $159 Abu Garcia reel in the water I had to tie it to his wrist.                                                                                                     His Luck we got it Back, LOL a The boys action was non stop, within the first hour Randy’s line start to sing as line peeled out of the spool, this beauty weighed in at 6.32 LB. and another at  5.84 LB.    As we were moving to another spot of mine, I spotted a pair of nice Peacock Bass. Now it was Ricks turn for his trophy. He missed the bigger one , but boated this nice Peacock Bass5.45 LB.                 The day ended with the boys catching over 40 including 8 Largemouth and 1 Midas Cichlid.       Day 2 With the winds finally died down the duo headed to The Famed Lake Okeechobee. Another 3 great days of fishing for return client Bob Olivia and Dwane from Chicago.      The fishing buddies fished the famed Lake Okeechobee and the Everglades . They caught well over 100 bass in the 3 days and mostly on artificial baits up to 6 lb. They spent two days fishing the flats in “The Glades and then an “explosive” day on Lake Okeechobee. The baits we were throwing was Gambler Big EZ, EZ swimmers, and Ace color really didn’t matter as long as it swam over the bass’s head they killed it. Then at the end of the day they went through 3 Dz. wild shiners. Ya ! just can’t beat Okeechobee when the bite is on, “It ain’t Just Fishing” When your out with Captian Frank Carbone

For the past 3 Days I had long time return client Chris King and his girlfriend Denise O’Donnell from Tenn.   On Day 1 we did the Everglades the couple caught both Largemouth and Peacock Bass Oscar and a chain pickeral . They caught several Largemouth and some peacock bass on Gambler Ace and shiners.        Now day 2 we headed to a private lake where they caught the same but some bigger peacock bass up to 5 lb. and some largemouth in the 2-3 LB. range   Then the Banner day came when we hit Lake Okeechobee and they hit it hard. Right from the start the bass were coming in to the boat. Denise drew first blood, with a 5 lb. then Chris came back with a 4 lb. Bass. As we moved around trying to find the right head they managed to put another 8 or 9 in the 2-4 LB. range. Then it happened, Denise hooked in to the fight of her life and she battled a true Okeechobee “HAWG”. This beast weighed in at 10 LB. 1 oz. 26.5 ” long and a girth of 18.5 “   The action continues and it became catching not fishing. as they boated 3-5 LB’ ers. Now it was Chris’s time up to bat as he landed a 8 .8 LB Trophy bass.     By the end of the day this Tenn. couple landed over 40 Bass and used 5 Doz. shiners.   Call now while the action is “HOT”

Today On Lake Okeechobee I guided Brothers Kevin and Dave Woolum from Idaho they had a great day catching bass. Even with the Strong winds and not the best conditions they managed to boat 18 Bass including this 7 LB. “Hawg” caught by Kevin.   They have nevered fished with wild shiners before and now love it. We first tried the outside until the wind picked up and only catching a few the biggest being 4 lb. So I decided to find and more seculded spot out of the wind. Here is where the boys had their most fun and with Kevin catching his Trophy bass which The Big “O” is known for. Kevin and Dave are already planning for next years trip back to Florida.   Also did a day of Peacock bass  and caught 23 including 3 Doubles in a row. I thnk they loved the catching of Peacock bass the most and compared these Scrappy Fighters to Smallies on Steriods. you can go to my Fishing Videos and see the Action. www.Hawghunterguideservice.com Then on Day 3 with the weather turning bad and strons rolling in we decide to stay closer to the hotel just in case they they opted a 1/2 day trip as you can see the from the picture. Today I was out on the Lake with Mark and his 10 year old Grandson Cole from Pittsburgh. What was supposed to be a rotten rainy, windy day turn out to be a good one. We started out on the lake but with wind building up to 15-20 MPH I decide to work the inside, good choice. On the very first cast in 5 second Cole caught his first Bass ever. After 3 Bass in the 2-3 lb. range I move to my other spot out of the wind, which turned out to be my Honey Hole for the rest of the day. Even though the wind was picking up, the bite never stopped, as Pop and Cole continued to get strikes. After several misses and 5 doz. shiners later this duo had a great time putting 23 bass, 1 Gar and 2 Bofin in the boat. Both agreed that this was the best fishing they have ever been on. Pop ended up with the biggest bass a nice 5 lb. and bragging rights. Cole did an excellent job catching 10 bass on his own .   If your coming down for the holiday’s or just want to get out of the cold, book your choice dates now while they are still available. In the past week we have been hitting the Glades in search for some big Bass, “well we found some”. Even with this hot weather blue bird skies, sunny and no wind days, we can still catch bass in Florida. First I went out with a friend of mine Steve and in 4 hours caught over 30 bass on Top water and large snakes as you can see. Once the sun came up we had to go deep in the center of the canal to catch them. Next I spent two day with a 14 year old Jersey boy, John Hayes. I’ll tell you he could out fish several adults I’ve been out with through the years. John listened to everything I had to say and was excellent in his casting. The first day was a bit slow , but managed to put a few in the boat including this “HAWG” Now day two same weather conditions , but much better John caught over 20 bass himself including these bigger ones , and we won’t talk about the one that got away. Then I finished the week off with Steven Bromley from Texas, also catching around 20 bass with a couple of nice 4 lb.  Bass. Florida is a year round fishery for both largemouth & Peacock Bass. Our peak season is from Dec- May , especially Jan – March when most everyone wants to get out of the cold. So if your thinking about coming down this winter book your peak date’s now to assure a spot with “The Hawghunter”. Capt. Frank Carbone and Guides 954-325-1115

Repeat client Paul Verde from MN. decided to get out of the cold and coming on down to catch some Big Bass on  lake Okeechobee  and so he did. On day one he boated over 20 bass up to 7 lb.         Then ended the day with catching a 4 lb. on a Gambler Ace and the newest addition to the Gambler line up “The Burner” , don’t go fishing without it. The actipon on this worm is great and has a lot of vibration to attract the Bigger Bass.   Then on day two we started out the morning with artificial plastics. The bait of choice this day was Gambler Big EZ ‘s and Fat Ace color didn’t seem to make a difference.   By around noon we decided to drown a few shiners, now here’s where all the big bass came in . Paul had none stop action for 2.5 hrs. catching several Bass up to 7.5 lb.     Then it happened in front of our eyes this Lunker Bass crushed and ate the biggest shiner in the live well . With a massive explosion and a great hook set , Paul landed his dream Bass ,as the scale was bouncing from 9.14 Lb. to 10.1 lb. so we can call it a 10 lber.  27.5 ” X 17″   10 LB. “HAWG” What away to spend two great days of fishing. , Then he headed back to 10 degree weather. 🙁   The next Day I had of couple of Jersey Boy’s Todd Sagas and his Uncle John. We started the day out in the fog throwing Gambler produce again catching bass between 2-5 lb. and breaking off a “HAWG” in the buggy whips.   Following the same pattern as the day before we headed to one of my honey hole’s and started slamming bass after bass on Wild shiners again. Todd within 2 mins. landed this 5 lb. Then john answered back with his nice bass.   The boys put 40 + bass in the boat up to 6-7 lb. several over 4 lb....
